SANTA CRUZ, Calif. -- A troop of Chinese acrobats is finding its way into the hearts of Santa Cruz beachgoers. For the last several weeks, the Amazing Chinese Acrobats have been a hit with crowds at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk Bandstand. The troop combines Chinese culture with contemporary theatrics, including a glass-balancing performer, human pyramids atop a moving bicycle and a Chinese dragon dancing across the stage.
XuHeng Wang, an interpreter for Chinese acrobat Xue Dan, said Dan has been practicing acrobatics her entire life."She was a child and she loved the tricks very much," Wang said. "She began acrobatics at the age of five and after that she stayed in six years before performing with the audiences."The Amazing Chinese Acrobats will be at the Boardwalk through Thursday performing twice a day at noon and 3 p.m.
