A mountain lion was spotted in a City of Monterey park Thursday morning, prompting warnings from police.

Monterey police said a woman spotted the mountain lion shortly before 10 a.m. while walking her dog in Via Paraiso Park.

Other residents nearby saw the mountain lion running up Herrmann Drive toward Via Del Pinar around the same time.

Police and animal control officers went door-to-door notifying residents to be on the lookout for the animal.
